Search the web
Posted by Yassine on September 27, 2008
Search engines have become more popluar that address bars. That’s what I learnt from m friends and colleagues. Whenever I give them a URL (let’s say: yassine36.wordpress.com) They simply type “www.google” in the address bar then entre my URL in the search bar. In my opinion that’s the awkward way to go to a site that you know.
Luckily, Leelefever and his wife Sachi have made an In Plain English video on web search startegies that anyone can use with any search engine (not only google !!)
Google Chrome’s new browser has changed many things and now is allowing searching the web from the address bar! But that thig deserve another post….
Do you have any particular method of searching the web?

Hi,
very good post indeed:-) got plenty of new techniques into fishing from the net what i need. Thankee! on the same subject, there seems to be another new tool that could function the same ways Google works and even much better. It’s called ‘Ubiquity.’ To know more about it just go here and read, then download the freeware and start using it. Ah, by the way, it works better with Mozillla firefox and i just don’t know whether they extended it to be used on IE or not…
Ah, sorry, I almost forgot, here is the link:

Nouamane,
Yes you’re right. Each search engine has its own method that serves each of your objectives. I usually use Yahoo for example when I have a research about a subject but don’t have the exact information in mind as it is a directory. I have compiled some of the search engines on my delicious under the tag: “searchengine” http://delicious.com/ana_yassine/searchengine
I found Ubiquity more than a search engine. It’s an application that allows to have everything in one place
